Tustains are celebrating Swiss National Day on Saturday 2nd August by showing the new models to be released by Swiss brands Breitling, Omega, Tissot, TAG Heuer and Longines.
This day has been celebrated as a national holiday in Switzerland since 1994 when the nation has local festivals, often with firework displays to commemorate the founding of the nation in 1291.
Tom Milner, director at Tustains, was keen to promote the new and exciting watch models due to be launched in the UK in the autumn. “Switzerland has long been associated with leading the world in watch design and new innovation” he says “so it seemed appropriate to organise an exhibition for customers to see the newest and latest editions ahead of their official launch dates later this year. We know many customers look forward to seeing the new ranges each time”.
In Schaffhausen, Switzerland, the spectacular 25m high Rhine waterfall is illuminated for the event and spectacular firework displays follow at nightfall. Swiss national day is also celebrated around the world, with the largest gatherings in Manhattan, New York and at the Swiss embassy in Washington.
No celebration would be complete without food and special “Augustweggen” bread rolls with large crosses at the centre are baked for the event. The Swiss also dye hard boiled eggs red with white, cross –shaped stickers in imitation of the Swiss flag.
The exclusive watch exhibition is being run in the Tustains store on 89, Regent Street, between 10am and 4pm on Saturday, 2nd August. Customers will be able to see the new Omega Seamster 300 and Breitling editions including the latest Superocean watch and the Avenger Blackbird.
