Congratulations to Mick Justice, who heads the team of volunteers at Leamington Football Club, for winning the Sporting Hero award for March, sponsored by Tustains Jewellers and the Leamington Courier newspaper.
After an outstanding season at Leamington Football Club in 2012/2013 there was much work to be done around the ground to ensure the Club was ready for level 2 football. Our March sporting hero leads the super team of volunteers, known affectionately as “The Scrubbers Club”, who were instrumental in getting the club prepared for this season.
This team are involved in volunteering on a regular basis and Mick’s face is a familiar sight down the club two or three days every week since his recent retirement. Both he and his teams’ ‘duties’ include cleaning the clubhouse and changing rooms, litter collections after matchdays and supporting the fundraising efforts of the club. Mick is also a skilled carpenter and, by his skilled contributions, has saved the club a lot of money in upgrading the facilities.
Kevin Watson, Leamington FC Director, who nominated him as the Courier and Tustains Jewellers Sporting Hero, commented “'Mick has been instrumental in getting numerous jobs around the New Windmill Ground done enabling the club to achieve the necessary ground grading. Whilst a number of volunteers could also be worthy recipients, Mick's skill, leadership and desire deserved to be rewarded'.
Mick has, over the years, been a great supporter of his local football team and has been involved in the Vice Presidents' Club, which organises fundraising and generate donations to this great local community club.
Tom and Joe Milner, Tustains directors, are delighted to award Mick his Tissot watch as both are also keen fans and involved in the club as ‘Official Timing Partners’.
